TERIYAKI SMOKED STEAK

This is a very flavorful, but not overpowering, steak recipe designed to make bargain
steak taste like top price cuts. The key is in the marinade and cooking method.

1-large round (or bargain) steak (1-1/2" to 2" thick)

Marinade

1-12 oz can of beer ( use less for thicker sauce)

1/4 to 1/3 cup teriyaki sauce/marinade

1/8 tsp black pepper

1/4 tsp garlic powder

Directions

Mix above ingredients in a 9x13 pan

Place steak in pan coating both sides with marinade

Store in refrigerator for 3 hours ( turn several times)

Grill preparation

3 cups of wood chips soaked in water (1 hour)

(hickory, apple, mistiquite, cherry, oak or alder) 

Spray UNLIT grill with non-stick spray or cover with foil and spray

Preheat grill and add wood chips to flames

When smoke is evident  place steak(s) in grill and close lid

Cook steaks on low heat for 7 to 10 minutes per side, or to your liking

Minimize opening, you'll lose flavor enhancing smoke

COOKING TIMES WILL VARY

Pour small amounts remaining marinade on steak when turning

Serve immediately with potatoes, rice, salads, vegetables ect...
