Our Store started out nine years ago when we purchased the estate just east of our house. Old and cold and run down, with no purpose. That is until Vera and Julie came up with the idea of a country store. My son-in-law said it would never work, "It's too far off the beaten path." Well, now you know how we got our name. It took several months of hard work on the part of the family but we opened our doors for business in the Fall of 2002.
Many improvements have been put in place since then. Including after six years, our first attempt at the internet. It is a source of information for those who visit our web site. As our skills grow so will the services we provide on the internet.
The shoppe is operated by the mother daughter team of Vera and Julie with the help of Vera's husband Peter and friend Frieda.
This is Frieda. She came to us from New Orleans after hurricane Katrina. Frieda is in charge of our Greeting Department. And me, I'm the reflection in the door above Frieda. My name is Pete, I'm Vera's husband and I'm in charge of Building maintenance and Grounds. The girls also appointed me Superintendent of cardboard. I get to break it down and take it the the re-cycling center. Cardboard around here is like weeds in the garden, it just keeps coming.
We are open five days a week, Wednesday through Saturday 11am till 5pm and Sundays 12noon till 4pm. Always by appointment or by chance.
